Burbank Turkey Trot 10K Race Recap

On Thanksgiving morning, I ran the Burbank Turkey Trot 10K.

Good morning!
In what’s become a sort of tradition at BlushandBarbells.com, I ran a Thanksgiving Day turkey trot. But this time, instead of going to Downtown LA, I went to the Burbank Turkey Trot.
I love doing races on familiar city streets, and since I used to work in Beautiful Downtown Burbank, I was really happy to take part of this race.

It was a beautiful morning with thick scattered clouds. The sun didn’t beat down on us as we ran, so it was really perfect running conditions. This is over the 5 Freeway. On Thanksgiving morning, I ran the Burbank Turkey Trot 10K.

But! It was a bit chilly! I’m a native Angeleno, folks…I can’t really do these kind of temps. But since I was running, I warmed up pretty quickly. 유씨 retreated into the warmth of his office (just around the corner) while he waited for me to finish! On Thanksgiving morning, I ran the Burbank Turkey Trot 10K.

Here’s the start line. The race was a 5K/10K to benefit the local YMCA. The 10K race was a double loop of the 5K. I don’t know how I feel about double loops. On the one hand, it’s a bit repetitive. On the other hand, it’s nice to know when hills are coming up!On Thanksgiving morning, I ran the Burbank Turkey Trot 10K.

Let’s just say…I did not do my best. The course was a bit hilly and I was slow. It’s never a good feeling to be one of the last finishers.

But, finish I did! It’s hard not to get discouraged at a bad race time but I’m going with the positives here. I woke up early, I finished, and I liked running on a new course. I’m not trying to beat anybody, I’m just trying to get some exercise and stay healthy and active as I get older. #WINNINGOn Thanksgiving morning, I ran the Burbank Turkey Trot 10K.

What did you do for Thanksgiving this year? Or if you’re not in the US, how was Thursday?

  1. You did great! I totally didn’t exercise on thanksgiving but hopefully by next year I’ll have worked myself up to running races like you.

I'd love to hear from you
