Listen to your body!

One massive mistake that many people make when they are on a mission to get fit is by not listening to what their body is telling them. As a society, out portions of food have increased a breathtaking amount over the last 50+ years, and this is one of the main reasons for the obesity epidemic. Believe it or not our bodies don’t need large portions to survive on, and over facing yourself with food can lead to weight gain and stomach problems because your body simply can’t digest that amount of food. When you’re eating a meal, really listen to your body and notice when your body tells you that it’s no longer hungry. You will be surprised at how quickly this happens. It can be hard to leave the remainder of a plate of food but the sooner that you get into the habit, the sooner you will begin eating the right portion size for your body. Food doesn’t have to go to waste either, as it can be wrapped and refrigerated ready to be eaten later in the day. Also, it doesn’t matter if you’re eating more frequently as long as you’re sticking to the same rule of stopping eating once the feeling of hunger has gone.

Lose weight if needed

It’s a good idea when you’re choosing to get fitter to find out whether your body is within the healthy BMI range for your body type. Once you know what your BMI is you will know whether you need to lose weight or not. If you do need to lose weight, follow these essential weight loss tips to get you started and on the right track to becoming healthy. Once you are closer to your target weight you will notice that it’s easier to do many tasks than before and you will also look and feel incredible!

Don’t neglect exercise

Many people lose weight successfully but neglect exercise. Exercise can help build muscle up, tone up any flabby skin, and also dramatically improve your general health. Make sure that you don’t neglect exercising while you’re becoming healthier to make sure that you’re truly giving your body everything that it needs to thrive. If you’ve not exercised in a while, remember to take it slow to begin with and work your way up as you go. Make sure that you’re changing up your exercise regime so that you don’t get bored and give up quickly!

Water is your best friend

If you only remember one thing while you’re on a get fit mission it should be that water is your best friend. It helps flush toxins out of your body, can help curb hunger pangs, and will also make your skin, hair and nails look sensational. So make sure you’re getting the recommended daily amount of water!

Get your mind in the right place

Finally, to successfully become fitter and lead a healthier lifestyle you need to get your mind in the right state to do so before anything else. You need to be truly committed to making a change in your life, rather than just following a quick fad diet to get into that pair of jeans which are too tight. Don’t call this a diet, call it a lifestyle change as this is something you will need to continue even when you reach your peak fitness. Remember to never lie to yourself about your eating habits otherwise you will land yourself the same rut that you’re trying to get out of! Follow these tips and become the healthiest version of yourself!
