Sunday Social – all about meeeeee (again)

Since I’m my own favorite topic, I’m a big fan of this week’s Sunday Social.

Social Sunday, A Complete Waste of Makeup

1. Introduce yourself and your blog to us.
My blog is about all kinds of stuff – fitness, makeup and skincare, books, and sometimes travel.

2. What is your favorite form of Social Media and why?
I love having and reading blogs! I’ve met so many wonderful people that I count as friends.

3. What made you start a blog?
I started my blog because I had an excessive amount of blushes in my stash and wanted to weed out the ones I didn’t like. See Blush Challenge. I had a similar, but incomplete and disorganized, Nail Polish Project.
I also blogged about my workouts and trying to eat better, because really, who wants to hear or talk about that? In my world, not a lot of people.

4. What do you feel the most meaningful/special post you’ve written is?
Probably this one, another Sunday Social. Never take your health for granted and never stop trying to improve it!

Have a great week, friends. Forgive me if I don’t respond to comments or your blog posts – I’ve auto-scheduled a few posts while I’m working a lot.

Have Nail Polish – Will Travel

Happy Monday!

Since I’m going to be in Mexico City for a few weeks, I absolutely had to bring all my  some nail polish with me. It was tough to narrow down the choices (because I’ve got entirely too much nail polish even after destashing last year) but here’s what made the cut:

Color Club Disco Dress, Avon Cosmic Radiant, Avon Cosmic Saturn, Avon Bare Necessity, Avon Golden Wine, Orly Bonder, Orly Won't Chip, Tropical Shine

I limited myself to that blue bag – everything had to fit in there.

Color Club Disco Dress – Review and photo here. I brought this because it is a mini  and fit easily; and also because it’s currently on my toes.
Avon Golden Wine – Review and photo here. Everyone needs a good red in her collection, right?
Avon Cosmic Radiant – Review and photo here. A new favorite.
Avon Bare Necessity – Review and photo here. This is my all-time favorite nail polish, ever. I may or may not look up an Avon lady here in Mexico City to see if it’s still available locally since it’s been discontinued in the US.
Avon Cosmic Saturn – Review and photo here. Looking at the photos of it make me wish I was wearing it now!
Also included are various accessories – Orly Bonder base coat, Orly Won’t Chip top coat, Silk Naturals All Set drying drops, and my trusty Tropical Shine buffing block.

So many Avon polishes are my favorites – and I always buy them for $2 to round up for free shipping! Seems like a good return on the money.

What’s your desert island nail polish? Could you limit yourself to just one? If you can, I salute you!

Manicure Monday – Color Club Disco Dress

Geez, my cuticles look ROUGH. The photos from Manicure Monday are a good reminder to moisturize! I carry a cuticle balm in my makeup bag – I’ve just got to remember to use it.

This is three coats of Color Club Disco Dress, part of last month’s Skyline Beauty haul. It’s a vibrant electric purple, unless you only use a camera phone like I do, in which case it’s kind of a blue-ish purple.

I wasn’t too terribly impressed when I put it on – the first two coats were streaky, and it wasn’t very shiny without a top coat. BUT it didn’t chip for three full days so I was ultimately pleased with the result. I used Orly Bonder as a base coat and Orly Won’t Chip as a top coat.

I could also use a really nice hand lotion. Any recommendations?

Manicure Monday – Avon Deluxe Chocolate

I don’t know about you, but for me, the name of this polish brings something else entirely into mind:

I love this rich brown shade with the golden shimmers – Avon Deluxe Chocolate is the perfect autumn shade. Never mind it was 90+ in Burbank today.

Do you believe that children are our future? Did my photo show all the beauty that Avon Deluxe Chocolate possesses inside?

Manicure Monday – Chip-Free at Last

I don’t often wear nail polish – even though I have tons of it – because it chips so quickly. And I feel self-conscious and slovenly with chipped nails, as if I don’t know how to groom myself. I usually can’t go 24 hours without a chip that makes me run for the nail polish remover, especially if it’s a dark or bold color.

But this manicure is 3 days old! Sure, I’ve got some tip wear, but nothing embarrassing that makes me shove my hands in my pocket. I think I found the secret combination!

Here’s what I used – Orly Bonder, coat of polish (Zoya Mimi), Orly Bonder, coat of polish, Orly Bonder, coat of polish, Orly Won’t Chip top coat, Silk Naturals All Set Drying Drops.  Sounds like a hassle but it didn’t actually take too long to apply, and I could not be happier with the results!

I am really excited about this – was it a fluke? Or did I finally achieve a chip-free mani?

I might just go crazy with the polish now. Crackle top coats, accent nails, water marbling…I’m all over it.

Have you found a chip-free solution?
