Purple Hair, Don’t Care!

I was browsing Sally’s Beauty Supply when I spied this – Ion Color Brilliance Brights in Lavender:

Why not? I asked myself. After all, it’s only temporary

It’s super-easy to use. No mixing or anything; just squeeze it out of the tube and apply to your hair. I put it on the underside of my hair and this was the result:

But i thought it wasn’t quite enough, so the next day I put it on my entire ponytail:I used Ion Color Brilliance Brights in Lavender on my hair

It’s been about two weeks now, and the color has slowly faded away. It was blue, as if I had ink stains on my hair, then green, now it’s a greenish-yellow. I kind of like it; I feel rebellious and wild! I need to re-apply, and maybe this time I’ll do my entire head so it fades more evenly…

Have you ever colored your hair an unnatural color?

Clairol Nice ‘n Easy Color Blend Foam

This Clairol foam hair color is aptly named – coloring your hair at home with foam really is nice and easy! I bought 9N Medium Blonde off the clearance rack at Walgreens; I stocked up with 4 boxes! Foam hair color is a bit more expensive than the other box colors, but it’s such a hassle-free free way to color my hair. I don’t think I’ll ever go back to regular hair color. And I sure as heck won’t pay a salon for it anymore since I much prefer at-home hair color. Yes I’m cheap, but I’m never happy with salon color so I’d rather be unhappy having paid $10 instead of $100.

Except! I’m not at all unhappy with this – I love it! It’s a bit lighter than I would expect a medium blonde to be, but that’s probably because my natural hair color is a dirty blonde, so it lifts more than say, a medium brown would.

Do you color your hair? Do you prefer salon or at-home?

Sunday Sunday SUNDAY

Today is my first day off in 34 days (not that I was counting with little hash marks at my desk or anything). It’s been a rough couple of weeks, but yesterday it all came to an end (maybe) at 1pm.

After work I met 유씨 and his mom for sushi and then we took her to the airport. I hardly got to see her during her visit! I was hoping that we could have gone to one of those Korean spas where technicians scrape off an entire layer of skin…but alas.

This morning 유씨 and I went to the sweet little gym in our new apartment. I forgot how much I like working out with him. He showed me how to use the squat rack; I showed him how to use TRX. I jogged on the treadmill for 25 minutes (not bad considering I’ve done little else but eat donuts and sit on my bum for 12 hrs a day for the last 4 weeks).
Yesterday when dropped 유씨’s mother off at the airport and I got on the luggage scale…happy to report that no damage had been done in that area. I knew that, of course, because my pants all fit, but I have been feeling loose in the cage.

chewingI managed to get some much-needed grooming in today too. I did my hair (some needed to be colored; some needed to be removed), my nails (tune in tomorrow to see more!) the laundry…just STUFF that had been neglected.

유씨 is going to decide if we should go to the movies or watch the NBA finals and I’m going to call my pops for Father’s Day.

How are you spending the weekend?

Some recent purchases

I popped into Sally’s last week and picked up a few things.20130418-133353.jpg

The 4-in-1 Tropical Shine buffer block is an HG product for me. My nails tend to split, so using this makes my nails smooth and less likely to break. I also feel okay foregoing nail polish after I’ve buffed them to a high shine.

While I was in Sally’s, I cruised the hair care aisle to see what was on sale. I like to try out new conditioners, so I picked out whatever sachets were on sale for 99¢. Since I wash my hair with conditioner, I tend to forget that I need deep conditioning too.

And I need deep conditioning because I color my hair every month or so. My hair grows pretty fast and I like to keep the gray at bay!

I really like John Frieda Precision Foam Color. It’s easy to apply, always consistent, and cruelty-free. I like to alternate between light, medium, and dark blonde to match the season, plus it gives my hair some nice high- and low-lights. I prefer to use Ash shades (no brassiness from those), but I had a Buy One Get One Free coupon from Target, and this was all that was on the shelf and rootage was unacceptable! I’ll have to order the Ash shades online since I can’t seem to find them in any stores.

20130418-133457.jpgThis was included in one of the hair color boxes as a freebie. Kind of weird to have shampoo for dark blondes along with light blonde hair color dye, no? I don’t use shampoo all that often but I’ll keep it around.
