Buenos dias mis amigos. Today I have some photos from my day trip to Puebla. Puebla is pretty much everything I love about Mexico in one city.
Colonial buildings – this one is a bit continental because of French occupation. We can thank the city of Puebla for Cinco de Mayo.
History, everywhere – This bullet-ridden building was the home of the Serdan brothers, who instigated an uprising against President Porfirio Diaz in 1910. It’s regarded as the first battle of the Mexican Revolution and is now the Regional Revolution Museum.
Beautiful crafts – this is a Talavera pottery factory. I may or may not have bought a pair of tequila glasses.
Majestic cathedrals – this is the Church of Santo Domingo.
Veneration of the Virgin Mary – this is inside the cathedral. Okay, a bit ostentatious, but you can really feel faith when you see this.
More colonial buildings – this is the Municipal Palace that faces the zocalo (main plaza) on one side.
Community – there was a dance festival going on in the zocalo the day I visited. Kids were dressed up in folkloric costumes to perform on a stage in a corner of the plaza. Here is one of the groups waiting for its turn to dance.
A day trip was not.long.enough. for this charming city. I will return!
What do you like best about the place where you live?
Beautiful photos! I want to go. I want to travel so bad, if only I were not scared to fly. Haha. Happy Tuesday.
I love seeing all the different styles of buildings when I am travelling. Those crafts are so beautiful!
Gorgeous! I just love to see posts about latin america, they are so few! and wow that cathedral! it’s crazy!
everything looks beautiful! loving the pottery and cathedral. I love seeing travel photos!
Puebla looks incredible. The building with the bullet holes is scary and interesting at the same time. Thanks for sharing these with us! 🙂
I’ve never heard of Pueblo (and isn’t that Spanish for house?) but I love the colonial architecture! Thanks for sharing!
I love the beautiful architecture and pottery! So gorgeous. Where is Puebla located in Mexico? I don’t think I’ve ever heard of it!
Gosh, your pics make me yearn for Mexico even more than I already do. What I love about being in the UK is the wonderful history (more like horrible history lol) that surrounds me. 🙂 Great pics!!
