Last weekend, I went to Washington State to run the Tacoma Narrows half marathon.
It started at the Tacoma Narrows Airport in Gig Harbor, and we had to run across the Narrows bridge, which spans beautiful Puget Sound.
Lemme tell you something, interwebs…running across the bridge was the fastest I’d ever raced in my entire life. I saw this documentary, I’m no fool!
Except…it’s a brand-new bridge now, and totally safe. Still…
유씨 decided to run the half marathon with me…running is so much more fun with a partner.
We ran through Cheney Stadium and saw ourselves on the jumbo-tron! Just like the Bash Brothers!
This wasn’t going to a be a race where I PRd or even came close to my other half-marathon times. It was verrrrrry hilly, I hadn’t trained properly, nor had 유씨. Instead, we enjoyed the scenery (gorgeous) and the INCREDIBLE VOLUNTEERS.
The course was full of funny signs like this, and awesome people who stood on the street, specifically to cheer us on.
No! Best race EVER. There was a real community feeling here as we ran through tons of different neighborhoods, with people coming out of their houses on a Saturday morning to root for us.
I loved it! Tacoma City Marathon Association seems to put on race events on a regular basis, and this was incredibly well-organized and fun. It’s a beautiful part of the country with clean air, pretty scenery, oh and did I mention the amazing volunteers? I would love to run more events there!
How was your weekend? How do you feel about crossing suspension bridges?
