Cellulite: How to Avoid The Dreaded Orange Peel

You’ve booked your tickets, and you’re ready to go! Going on holiday is a time of great excitement. And why shouldn’t it be? Getting away from it all, even just for a little mini break is a wonderful treat. Taking some time out to recharge your batteries and relax is always something to look forward to when you live a busy life. A break away from work, the kids or just the stresses and strains of our daily life is a real tonic.

If you’re heading off to somewhere sunny, you’ll want to have your summer clothes on hand. But not all of us feel too confident showing off our legs. Even if they don’t show it, most people have issues with body confidence. If you’re victim to the dreaded cellulite, then you’ll know exactly what I mean!

Tums, Bums and Legs

Cellulite is the name given to the condition that makes skin look like dimpled orange peel. It’s what occurs when deposits of fat push up against your layers of connective tissue. It’s most commonly found on the thighs, buttocks and legs. The ugly telltale bumps can creep up in other places like arms, too.

No more couch potato

Couch potatoes are prime candidates to end up with that dreaded pasty complexion with added dimples. Lounging about in one position all the time will do you no favours! You’re also more at risk from cellulite if you smoke.

You might want to look away now

Here’s the bad news: it’s nearly impossible to get rid of all traces of cellulite. There’s also some good news so don’t be downhearted. It’s not so bad because there are plenty of things you can do to minimize the appearance of those unsightly lumps and bumps.

Drink More Water

Ok, so it’s hardly the most original or newest pieces of advice. But seriously, drink more water. Water will help flush all the nasty toxins from your system . Once your body is used to be frequently hydrated, it will stop holding onto excess water which will diminish the appearance of cellulite.

You are what you eat

Beauty starts from within. You are what you eat, so if you’re eating a lot of processed and fatty foods, then the cellulite really shouldn’t be a surprise! Stick to whole grains and food with plenty of fiber. Fiber helps remove fats and other nasties from the gut and intestine, which will help keep the dreaded dimples at bay.

Massage

Massaging the areas affected by cellulite is a helpful method commonly used to help break down fatty deposits. This is twice as effective if you use creams and lotions designed to help reduce cellulite. Revitol products have some great reviews and have shown some impressive results.

Exercise

Cellulite is fat, so exercise will help shift some of it. Of course, you can’t make it disappear entirely.  But by taking regular exercise, you will help diminish that undesirable lumpy look. Running and swimming are excellent ways of reducing fat and making your skin look smoother!
