I love the Literary Junkies link-up. Love love love love love. I always come out with a long list of books to put on hold at the library. I’ve found some real gems from this link party. If you like to read, come join us!
Here are this month’s questions:
1. What are you reading right now? Tell us about it!
Right now I’m reading Trains and Lovers by Alexander McCall Smith. It’s about four strangers on a train who talk or think about their loves while on the trip. The way the stories transition from one to another is amazing. Alexander McCall Smith is one of my favorite authors.

2. What books are on your bedside table at the moment?
None! Everything is in my tablet on the Kindle app.
3. Amazon recently released the 100 books to read in a lifetime. What did they miss that you would add?
I’ve read 24 of the books on the list. I think the classics are not too terribly represented on that list – there seems to be a lot of recent releases. Don’t get me wrong, I love popular fiction (obviously!) but Valley of the Dolls?!
4. Are there any books being published in 2014 that you are anxiously awaiting? If so, what are they?
I don’t think that I’ve anxiously awaited anything to be published once Harry Potter was finished.
5. Name the next 3 books in your To Be Read List (the ones you will be reading next on your list.)
What are you reading this month? Any recommendations for me?
If you’re snowed in, you might not realize that summer is on its way! Get ready for shorts and swimsuits with this at-home exercise program.
Since I started blogging, I really don’t have enough time to read. There was a time in my life that I’d read a book a week. I’m lucky to get one a month anymore.
But they are mostly on my tablet. 🙂
Yep, everything is on my tablet too. So easy to whip it out and read when ever I’m waiting somewhere.
Great answers! I thought the same thing about Valley of the Dolls.
If you can stand juvenile fiction, The One and Only Ivan was great!
I just put it on my list!
Trains and Lovers sounds really good — I love stories like that, where the characters’ lives and stories intersect in interesting ways. I posted about my recent reads here: http://www.beautyschooldropout.net/?p=4323
Alexander McCall Smith is great with the intertwining.
I’m currently reading Throne of Glass (Throne of Glass #1) .. it’s meh.
I’m also reading The China Study .. and it’s a bit heavy on the science and nutrition aspect, but an interesting read of what to eat to stay healthy.
A friend of mine loved The China Study. I just couldn’t get into it
This is awesome! I’ve gotta link up next time! I’m currently reading John Grisham’s, The Client. Totally not my style buy my husband had an extra Grisham novel lying around on our last vacation when I read my, The Kitchen God’s Wife, book! Not too bad. 24 books on that list! Dang! I’ve gotta check that out!!!
Do link up next month – I get so many good recs from this linky party!
I need to read more classics!
It is actually joy to read them in English and compare the memories of my reading from youth.
I have Jazz (Toni Morrison) on my bedside table. I’ve read it many times but it is one of the few actual books in the house, so it’s there, on my bedside. ;p
Oh wow, I never thought these would be classics in other languages – I assumed each language had its own genre of classics!
What Alice Forgot was so good!! I am going on goodreads now to check out your others.
I agree – I was surprised at all the really recent stuff on there. I like new stuff, but I’m not sure that much of it belongs on the top 100 list!
Right?! Where’s Jane Eyre or anything by Jules Verne?
going to check the amazon list now so I can get some ideas for what to read next!
— jackie – jade and oak
It’s a good list…just not lifetime-worthy I think.
I’ve heard of Trains and Lovers – I’m going to have to add that to my list. Good thing there is plenty of room on my Nook!
Pretty much anything by Alexander McCall Smith should be on everyone’s list – he’s one of my favorites!
I have so many comments to this! 🙂 First of all, the book you’re reading sounds like my kind of book. I like when books transition to different people and you have to slowly learn about people. Next, I felt the same way when looking over the list of #3. There are a lot of recent books on there. I also felt like there were books on there that are good books, but not really deserving of “100 books you must read in a lifetime.” #4-right?!? Nothing can compare… I’m gathering that What Alice Forgot is for the Literary Junkies book club because it’s on a lot of people’s list. It’s a really good book!
I just started What Alice Forgot last night and it kept me up longer than I wanted to be awake. It’s so good!
I’m excited to read What Alice Forgot, I heard about it so much and never had a chance to read it. That book your currently reading sounds like a math problem which means I so down to read it.
A math problem haha! It was a good book, I really enjoyed it. I’m loving What Alice Forgot, too!
