Happy Monday!
I saw this tutorial on Makeup.com for striped nails and I thought – sure! That looks easy enough.
And it kind of was…
First I gathered my supplies: base coat, top coat, three colors, drying drops, and some nail tape.
I bought this nail tape at Cosmetics Market in New York City.
First I painted my nail with Avon Bare Necessity. I used two coats.
Then I put tape across the middle of my nails.
Next step was to paint half of the untaped nail with Avon Deluxe Chocolate.
For the other half of the nail, I used Zoya Sunny.
I removed the tape and used Orly Won’t Chip as the top coat.
I am not too terribly impressed with the results.
Here’s what I’ll do differently next time:
- I’ll paint the base color the day before since it takes a while to dry. My pinky is unstriped because I put the tape on before it was totally dry, and then I had to redo it entirely.
- I’ll use bolder colors – the base polish is a bit fleshy-looking compared to the others.
- I will tamp the tape down so the colors don’t bleed.
Have a great week and thanks for stopping by!
Nicely done!
I have used the tapes for occasional french mani attempts, but the color always end up bleeding no matter what I do.
Love the Bare Necessity on you. 🙂
Thank you! I am going to try again with different colors.
I’ve never seen the striped nails before! I love it!
This looks cool! I was thinking you were just going to add a white tip for a manicure but it looks like you can totally do that too if you wanted to. 3 different colors looks nice and very creative. 🙂
I always struggle when trying to use nail tape, never quite works for me! The colour either bleeds or it pulls off the rest of the nail varnish, so frustrating!
This would look great though if you could get it to work 🙂
