As I’ve posted before, I rarely use shampoo to wash my hair; instead I wash with conditioner. This works really well for me because I wash at least once a day, I have fine hair that tangles easily, and it saves loads of time in the shower. As long as the conditioner doesn’t have dimethicone, it rinses out nicely and my hair is soft and clean. Although sometimes dimethicone is fine too, I just have to switch out every couple of weeks with a non-dimethicone conditioner.
Lately I’ve amassed quite the collection of hair conditioners by using coupons.
Here is the result of some recent couponing: I paid $5 for the Suave items (that includes two bottles that I’ve already used), $1 each for the Garnier conditioners, and the L’oreal conditioners were part of a massive deal at Target – I wrote a guest post about it on Bekah’s Resolve if you want details.
This stash does not include what’s in the shower:
유씨 bought Tea Tree Tingle shampoo and conditioner at Trader Joe’s because he thought we were out. Hahahahahaha.
That’s 140.9 ounces of hair conditioner. Based on those little bottles of conditioner you get at hotels, I estimate that I use .75 ounce to thoroughly wash my scalp and condition my hair. So I’ve got about 188 uses out of those bottles, or about 6 months’ worth of hair conditioner. Since there’s two of us, I’d say we’re looking at ~4 months since 유씨 sometimes uses this in lieu of shampoo too. (Probably because that’s what’s available).
Now that I see it written out, it doesn’t look like that much. Maybe I’ll keep an eye out for any more deals.
Do you use coupons? Have you scored any great deals recently?
Bahahah. I was dying to see your conditioner collection-Growing up, my mom always had the house STOCKED but there were like 80 conditioners and zero shampoos because she often didn’t read labels or just moved so quickly through the store. I like the idea that you just condition! I very rarely wash my hair. Now especially since this LA weather and/or my pregnancy has me so dry!
You should try it! As long as your conditioner isn’t overloaded with -cones, it’s a nice wash.
I am the total opposite problem. I rarely use conditioner, I have short fine hair, and if it’s silky from conditioner it falls flat in 2 minutes. I use conditioner like maybe once a week? All the other times it’s shampoo everyday because of all the wax gunk I use.
Good point – I can get away with using conditioner only because I don’t use any hair products. I probably should though.
Haha, I’m in the same boat. I love couponing. It’s fun & it helps save money. So that is 2 birds with one stone.
I love it when the clerks seem impressed by the total 🙂
I don’t use coupons all that often, but I do like my CVS bucks 🙂

I love the Rite Aid dollars. I may or may not have used the last ones I got on Thrifty Ice Cream
I’ve never mastered couponing, but I’m always impressed by people who can keep track of all the great deals!
If it weren’t for the bloggers with the specific store deals, there’s no way I’d be able to do it either.
Looks like you got some good deals. I use coupons frequently. I’m somewhat obsessive with bath and beauty products and have quite the stash of shampoos, conditioners, body wash, etc. We won’t be running out any time soon.

I really like having spares around!
Hmm, I’m curious about skipping the shampoo now. I usually wash everyday and my hair is fine too. I’m going to try it. 🙂
Do try it and let me know how it turned out!
I’m laughing at your conditioner collection – only because I do the same thing! If I have a coupon and it’s a good deal I buy it. We have lots of shampoo/conditioner in our closet. I have the same issue with laundry detergent too!
I’m working up to a stash of laundry detergent too, but I haven’t seen too many good coupons/sales!
