elf compact

1. e.l.f Studio Blush & Bronzer in St Lucia. This sturdy and handy compact accompanied me to South East Asia and the Yucatan peninsula this year. I use the bronzer as eye shadow so it’s pretty much a complete palette for a quick and easy look.

Eyeko Strawberry Fat balm

2. Eyeko Strawberry Fat Balm (discontinued). I’ve almost used this up. What will I do when I’m out of it??

Fyrinnae Pixie Epoxy

3. Fyrinnae Pixie Epoxy. Layered on top of eye primer, my shadow does.not.budge. Since I’m so oily, that’s pretty miraculous.

Lucy OCS

4. Lucy Minerals Finishing Powder in Oil Control Silica. Perfect, just perfect.

Lucy Sweet Dreams Ambrosia

Yeah, I hoarded.

5. Lucy Minerals Sweet Dreams Ambrosia. I’d never considered moisturizing with oil, but I’m so glad I tried this. I wake up to soft skin when I use this at night. I stocked up during one of Lucy Minerals’ incredible sales.

Lumiere Light Golden

6. Lumiere Cashmere foundation in Light Golden. This is the most reliable foundation I’ve ever used, and I’m pretty sure I’ve tried them all.

How much is your face worth?

A torrential downpour scuppered plans for today’s hike, so instead I thought I’d do a post about how much the makeup items I’m wearing cost. There are a lot of How Much Is Your Face Worth posts in the beauty blogging world, so I’m jumping on the bandwagon and tallying up today’s makeup.

  1. Primer (face) – Avon MagiX Face Perfector $10
  2. Primer (eye) – Silk Naturals eye primer v.2. This was a $1 gumball
  3. Primer (eye) – Fyrinnae Pixie Epoxy $7Face worth primers
  4. Foundation – Lumiere Cashmere in Light Golden $18
  5. Finishing Powder – Lucy Minerals Finishing Powder in Oil Control Silica $15
  6. Blush – Everyday Minerals Yard Sale. Discontinued, but full-size blushes are $9.99Face worth powders
  7. Lippie – Avon Smooth Minerals in Malted Minerals. Discontinued, but lipsticks are usually $8face worth lips
  8. Eyeliner – 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in Lucky $19
  9. Mascara – Lancome Defencils in Brown  $26
  10. Eye Shadows – Aromaleigh Helena and Titiana. These are discontinued, but eye shadows from the current frost collection are $6.50 each.Face worth eyes

Total = $139.98. I highly doubt that I actually paid anything close to that! I only buy stuff when it’s on sale.

Product Review – Lumiere Cashmere Face Base

A few years ago I switched to mineral makeup for two reasons – I needed something that was easy to apply midday after my foundation faded off (I have v-e-r-y oily skin), and most importantly, I could never find anything pale and yellow enough for my skin.

While looking for a new foundation, I recently ordered a few samples of Lumiere’s face base (5 baggie samples for a penny plus shipping)

I was so impressed with the Lumiere fase base formulas samples I ordered – Veena Velvet and Flawless Face, that I ordered them in full size, along with Cashmere, even though I hadn’t tried it.

Lumiere Cosmetics Cashmere Face Base in Light Golden

Ingredients from Lumiere’s website

Cashmere Foundation:
silk powder, serecite (colorless mica), titanium dioxide, zinc oxide, boron nitride, iron oxides

This is quality stuff. I’ve tried LOTS of mineral brands, and I think this by far is my favorite. The Cashmere formula is soft, easy to apply, does not fade or pool, and evens out my flush and hyper-pigmentation without making me look made up. It’s perfect foundation for a natural look when I don’t want to look like I’m wearing foundation. It’s also perfect for when I’m in a rush – I just swipe, swipe swipe the base over my face with a brush and I’m good to go.

Packed on so you can see the smooth texture

I highly recommend that you try Lumiere Cosmetics face base! It’s really easy to find a color match (I use Light Golden ), and the sample baggies last quite a few uses so you can give it a thorough road test.

Face of the Day

Here is what I wore today for an appointment I had at 9am:

Image

  • Foundation – Lumiere Cashmere in Light Golden
  • Blush –  blush half of e.l.f. Contouring Blush & Bronzing Powder
  • Eyeshadow – the shadow half of the e.l.f. Contouring Blush & Bronzing Powder
  • Lipstick – Avon Smooth Minerals in Malted Minerals (discontinued)
  • Concealer – Silk Naturals Sleep in a Jar Light Peach Under Eye Concealer
  • Eyeliner – Avon Glimmersticks in Cosmic Brown
