Each month, we have a keyword, this month’s keyword: History.
I’m a bit of a history nerd, so this month’s topic was tough – what locale would I choose? My interest in history is exactly why I like to travel – seeing all the places I’ve read about is thrilling. But choose I did, and Washington, DC was the winner. I first visited in 1999, and I loved it so much I decided to go to law school there. Living in DC was such an exciting experience and I really miss it sometimes! It seemed that every corner was steeped in significance and historical importance.
On with the photos:
The National Portrait Gallery was closed the entire time I lived there! I had to snap this announcement of its opening because this portrait of George Washington Carver is my favorite.
The Old Executive Office Building. Just gorgeous.
Washington Monument at Sunset
The Watergate is quite possibly the ugliest building in the history of architecture…but it’s got history. And a Safeway.
Which nation’s capital is your favorite? Have you entered my giveaway yet?
DC is probably my favorite place in the states. I am lucky enough to live a little over an hour away and visit a few times per year 🙂
I love DC! Such a great topic for history! Thanks for linking up 🙂
I have been to Washing DC my family actually lives about 15 mins away from there and I go visit them from Toronto as much as I can. I have toured that area and the surrounding cities like Baltimore which has a beautiful aquarium.
