You might remember that I was completely terrified of this trail when we tried it a few weeks ago. But this time it was no problem. The fear of the narrow trail and plunging canyon depths somehow disappeared, maybe because I already did this hike and realized I was not going to roll down over the side.
This time we stopped at Orchard Camp for lunch where we ended our hike last time, and then went an addition 2 miles to Manzanita Ridge.
I’d read that those 2 miles was the toughest of the Mt. Wilson Trail and I believe it! (Even though we still haven’t gone to the summit yet). It was steep, and in some spots, there was no trail and we had to scramble over rocks. Going back down was a bit precarious too – I fell once and had to scoot on my bum a couple of times. Both 유씨 and I have bruised toes, and I’ve got a huge bruise on the side of my foot.
Totally worth it. I’m really proud of us for our 10-mile hike.
