If you’re my Fitbit friend, you know how much I like to walk. So when Vionic offered to send me a pair of walking shoes and invited me to join the 2014 Walkabout, I naturally accepted. The challenge is to walk 30 minutes a day for 28 days straight. You can either walk 10 minutes 3 times a day, or all 30 minutes at once. There will be prizes awarded
Or walk even more than that! Walking is an exercise that nearly everyone can do, and I can tell you first-hand it’s a great way to blow off a little steam during a stressful day.
Here’s information on the challenge:
The Walkabout: A 28-day quest for good health, is led by Vionic Footwear with Orthaheel Technology in partnership with Juliet Kaska (a Vionic Spokesperson) and health guru Dr. Andrew Weil. The campaign puts a spotlight on walking for personal health and encourages the public to walk for 30 minutes each day. Anyone from anywhere can participate in the Walkabout, which starts March 3rd and runs for 28-days.
I was quite the fan of Dr. Weil’s books in the 90s – I never missed one of his PBS specials and my copy of 8 Weeks to Optimum Health was dogeared and well-worn.
Since it was raining, I walked on the treadmill for 90 minutes. Okay, why lie, I would have stuck to the treadmill today anyway because I had to catch up on my soaps.
The Vionic shoes were very comfortable. They were very sturdy and the heel has a nice cushion. I’m a heel-striker so that was especially appreciated. I usually walk in my running shoes, so it’s nice to have an alternative.
