Show Us Your Books!

federal rules of appellate procedure

Hello Tuesday! Are you reading this from work or home? I’m not working today, but it’s got nothing to do with the holiday…

Today I’m linking up with Jana Says and Life According to Steph for Show Us Your Books!

Life According to Steph

Here are the books I read in October:

The Empty House by Rosamunde Pilcher
The Empty House by Rosamunde PilcherMeh. Snow in April was a good story, but the other books from this author (including this one) seem a bit too damsel-in-distress for me.

One Plus One by Jojo Moyes
One Plus One by Jojo MoyesI binge-read Jojo Moyes earlier this year, so I was very happy to read a new book from her. This one didn’t keep me up until 3am like The Girl You Left Behind or sobbing like Me Before You, but it was highly enjoyable.

Heart of the Matter by Emily Giffin
Heart of the Matter by Emily GiffinI think I’m done with Emily Giffin. I really enjoyed Where We Belong, but her other books are filled with completely unsympathetic characters that I don’t want to live happily ever after.

The Silkworm by Robert Galbraith
The Silkworm by Robert Galbraith This is a classic British murder mystery, and since it’s written by JK Rowling, you just know it’s going to be a winner. It is a bit gruesome, so not for the faint of heart.

The Kitchen God’s Wife by Amy Tan
The Kitchen God's Wife by Amy Tan I just love stories about first-generation/parent-child culture clashes, and Amy Tan’s books are captivating.

  1. lol at the last one.
i have only read one emily griffin i think and i have another on my shelf to read but they just don’t ever call out to me.
i havent read one plus one yet but it’s on the list! 🙂

  2. I read a lot of cozy murder mysteries. I just finished Merit Badge Murder by Leslie Langtry ($.99 in the Kindle store), and it was quirky funny, so I enjoyed it. I also read Maple Mayhem by Jessie Crockett, which was cute, but it annoyed me that her computer was “destroyed” by the power cord being cut. Really? What computer has a power cord that is permanently attached and irreplaceable? At least smash the tower. LOL I’ve read a few others too, but I won’t list them all. Today I’m going to start The Kill Switch by James Rollins. I started reading him about a year and a half ago, and he’s quickly become one of my favorite authors.

  3. I think Jojo Moyes will be on my binge read list for next year. This was the year of Rainbow Rowell.

I liked Emily Giffin’s first few books. This year I read her newest, The One and Only and it was so bad and weird and unsettling (not in a good way) and disappointing that I’m done with her.

    Thanks for linking up!

I'd love to hear from you
