5 Ways To Improve Your Body Positivity

Body positivity is something that we hear about all of the time lately, and we’ve never been happier to have a topic fill up our Twitter feeds. Let’s be honest here, we’ve all looked at pictures of models and wondered why we can’t look like them, and then spent a considerable amount of time thinking about how we could change ourselves in order to do so. It’s pretty toxic when most of these people are photoshopped anyway though, right?

So how do you embrace your body, and think about it with as much positivity as possible? Here are 5 ideas to get your self-love going.

#1: Have an Instagram clear out

Sometimes, you just need to go through your Instagram and get rid of the pages that are making you feel bad about your body. Are you following magazines that post unrealistic, photoshopped images? If you are, exercise a bit of self-care and give them an unfollow. Instead, follow some body positivity pages, and see how much of a difference it can make to your feelings about your body.

#2: Fall back in love with yourself

The issues that you’re having with your body positivity may be rooted in the way that you look at it, and attempting to shift your perspective could be a good idea. Think about all of the great things your body has given you; you’re able to live your life, go to the places that you want to, and your body works 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, sometimes for 100 years, just to make sure that you can do it. It’s pretty great, huh?

#3: Take ownership

Another way to get back in touch with your body, and to feel positive about it again, is to take ownership of it. Think about what you want to do, and what makes you happy. Do you want to cut your hair, or keep it long? Do you want to look for plastic surgery near me free consultation options or do you want to love what you’ve got? Taking ownership of your body is key to a better relationship with it.

#4: Think about whether you’d say it to a friend

Before you stand in front of the mirror and think negative thoughts about your body, ask yourself whether you’d say these things to your best friend. Would you tell them that they were fat, or that they were ugly? If not, then why do it to yourself? Body positivity is all about becoming a friend to yourself; after all, you’re going to be in this body for a while, so you may as well love it!

#5: Adopt a general positive attitude

Body positivity simply can’t be developed when you have a negative attitude about life in general, and about the bodies of other people. Look for the great things about others, and not just whether they look ‘fat’ or not. When you start to see these things in the people around you, you’ll also adopt this attitude towards yourself. Think about others like your happiness depends on it, because it does!

Enjoy falling back in love with your body!

I'd love to hear from you
