Your best friend is telling you to cut out carbs. Your mum is telling you to join Weight Watchers. Your co-workers are telling you to stop eating after 7pm. Your sister, well, all she needs to do is go for a 20-minute run and weight just melts off.
But do any of these tips actually work? To help you shed those extra pounds without only being able to eat at odd times of the day or starving yourself or having, we have put together a guide to all the very best diet tips.
- Do what feels right for you
Don’t follow a certain diet just because your best friend or all your co-worker are doing it, follow a diet that feels right to you. It is important to remember that our bodies are not the same, and so, what works for one person may not work for another.
If you love eating pasta, join Slimming World (it’s a free food – aka eat as much as you like). If you are an avid meat eater, follow the Atkins diet. If you are a fan of shake diets, do a shake diet. A fantastic shake diet is plexus slim, it is easy to do and has great results. Are you thinking about buying plexus slim online? Then just make sure to do your research beforehand. Make sure that whatever diet you choose to follow, has been approved by doctors and nutritionists.
To succeed at a diet, it needs to work well for you and fit in with your lifestyle easily. Otherwise, before you even start, you will be destined to fail.
Before starting your diet, set yourself a goal that you can aspire to meet. Set yourself a weight loss goal, as well as a date when you want to meet that goal by – a family party or special event, for instance.
By setting yourself a goal, you will boost your motivation. If you have a goal in place, you will be more likely to succeed at your diet, as you will be passionate about meeting that goal.
- Don’t be tempted by fad diets
Fad diets can not only be dangerously unhealthy, they can also result in you gaining back all the weight you lost while on them, and more. Think about it, losing weight quickly might sound great now, but you won’t be feeling like that when you put it all back on again, will you?
- Indulge
Don’t ban yourself from indulging in your favourite treats – instead moderate yourself. If you eat healthily most of the time, then every so often indulge in a piece of your favourite chocolate cake or a domino’s pizza, it won’t kill you.
While it is important to indulge, it is also important to know when to stop. Eating a bowl of ice cream is perfectly fine, however, eating a whole container is not.
- Incorporate exercise into your diet
It is important to find ways to incorporate exercise into your diet, going on a diet isn’t just about losing weight, it is also about being healthy. A big part of being healthy comes from regular exercise.
I like these tips and have found them to be true in my fitness journey and experience with weight loss. I would also like to add that setting small goals, especially for those that have many pounds to shed can be helpful- I learned from WW that just 10 percent goals can make a world of difference health wise and that way it can be less overwhelming and more attainable.
10% goals are a great idea! And once you reach it, it’s all the more encouraging to keep going
