Last weekend, I dragged poor 유씨 to a bridal show at Brookside Golf Course next to the Rose Bowl as part of Country Clubs Receptions Wedding Show Weekend. He just kind of milled around while I exclaimed happily at All The Pretty Things. (I had no idea that we so easily slotted into the gender roles that society has assigned us, but there you go).
First was this absolutely stunning wedding dress by JoJo Design.
Joanne designs one-of-a-kind wedding dresses. I’m kind of over strapless bridal gowns, so this gorgeous dress was a nice change of pace. You can see this dress on the lovely bride on Joanne’s website here. Jojo Design also makes modest wedding dresses for conservative women (or women of a certain age like yours truly).
I didn’t ask about prices so I have no idea how much something so beautiful would cost.
Next up – this table setting by Bobbie Bloom Floral Designs. I’m starting to wonder why my dining table doesn’t look like this every day?
My favorite part of any bridal show: cake tasting!
I sampled the Cuban cake that had a guayaba filling. Heavenly! I didn’t even know there were Other Cuban Bakeries in the area, so I was happy to see Merengue Bakery out representing.
The Brookside Golf Course is a popular wedding venue, but it seemed a little awkward to me. See those golfers in the background? And there’s a putting green to the left of the setup here. Would your ceremony be punctuated with cries of “Fore!”? What if a stray golf ball knocks over the cake?
Pretty koi pond. I did not see any golf balls floating around in there, so maybe it all works out.
Have you been to any bridal shows? Do you drag your dude along with you, or is it girls-only?

I’d go with a girlfriend if she asked .. no need to drag the spouse unless he can hit the bar while I’m shopping ..lol

Now there’s an idea – a bar at these events!
I want guayaba cake!!! MMMMMM!!!! I’m over strapless gowns as well. I LOVE that custom one! I like less poofy now too. Your husband is a doll for going with!
I do have guava paste in the cupboard…maybe I should experiment this weekend. 🙂
OMG guayaba filling?? I didn’t know there was such a thing! I’ve never been to a bridal show before, do you recommend it?
