Happy Friday! Today I’m linking up with Koala Katie and Kaitlyn for Get Fit Friday. This week’s topic is incorporating fitness into everyday life. Here’s how I try to make fitness a priority:
- I walk. Everywhere. I have a made a deliberate choice to live without a car, so that means I have to walk a lot, even if it’s just to the bus stop. Usually waiting for the bus is a hassle so I just walk where ever I need to go.
- I set goals. Last year I wanted to be able to run a 5K. Then I wanted to run a 10K. Now I want to run a half-marathon. These are pretty ambitious goals for a girl who did anything to get out of high school PE class!
- I don’t let perfect get in the way of the good. Maybe I won’t ever be able to do an unassisted pull-up, or run an entire half marathon without stopping, but I can still try.
- I make time to exercise. This is easy since I’m unemployed right now. But when I’m working, it’s usually 10-12 hour days so it’s tough to make time for a workout. I have to wake up earlier and get it done before work, but I never regret doing it.
- I have fitness friends. Thanks to you all who blog about fitness and healthy living – it really helps me along!
It took turning 40 for me to get serious about my health and fitness! But I’m glad I did.
How do you incorporate fitness into your life? Any tips for me?
These are great tips! Good for you, living without a car- so healthy and so green! Thanks for linking up with us 🙂
Hey, I also would do just about anything to get out of P.E. In fact, I got removed due to a medical reason! hahaha and I ran a half in 2011! You SO can do it 😉
The best method is run/walk with an interval timer. It keeps you going and at a good pace so you don’t….die early in the run. Keep at it!
I have to admit, I have been too inadvertent with fitness during the past months. This is a very good reminder how important even simple walking should be in one’s regimen. One thing for sure, we have to go out there and stay fit.
