Giovanni D:tox System Purifying Cleanser and Scrub

Awhile ago I purchased and reviewed the Giovanni D:tox System Purifying Cleanser. It worked so well that when I saw it on the shelf at TJ Maxx, I had to buy another. I picked up the Purifying Scrub, too. TJ Maxx has these items at knock-down prices so the cheapo in me was pretty happy.

Like with the cleanser, I know the scrub works because I received the entire set from Meg’s Makeup a while ago. Generally, I think that chemical exfoliation is better for my skin, so I have a stash of mandelic acid products ready to use. But you shouldn’t be exposed to sun after doing a chemical peel so I’ve been holding off on using them until winter. (Yes, I know it’s December, but it was 75 degrees last weekend with bright sunshine.) While waiting to use the chemical peels, I still need some sort of exfoliant, so Givoanni D:tox was a perfect choice. The granules are very small, so I don’t have to worry about damaging my skin by scrubbing too hard. And boy do I scrub. My face is left smooth and soft from this scrub, and I know it’s gentle because my face is not red afterward. I use it every other day, but I’m pretty sure I could use it daily without problems.

I’m still loving the cleanser, too. I use it at night when I wash off my makeup. I am verrrry oily but I never use cleansers formulated for oily skin because it just makes me feel dry. I love that the Giovanni cleanser does not strip my skin and make it tight.

I am really happy with these products – my skin is looking better already.

What skincare are you using?

  1. good to know! you got me interested in the Giovanni range since your last review.
i’m always looking for good mud base mask that is not ridiculously priced. i will try this next time.
currently i’m using the Formula 10.0.6 deep down detox mask and pretty happy with it. it does a great job decongesting and it’s not as drying as some others. 🙂

  2. I also have very oily skin and need chemical based products – the natural stuff just doesn’t work for me , like say .. Aveda (although I love the scent of Aveda products).

I usually use Neutrogena foaming face wash in the morning along with Proactive face wash. In the evening after I remove my makeup, I again use the foaming face wash and Paula’s Choice Skin Balancing oil reducing cleanser in the evening.

Seems to work well. Now if I could just get rid of the wrinkles 😉

    Monica,

    1. You know, I’ve been lucky and I haven’t wrinkled very much, maybe it’s the oily skin.
Gravity, on the other hand, is not my friend.

I'd love to hear from you
