You know when the perfect summer beach bod gets started? In the winter! So despite the winter making you want to crawl into bed early with a hot drink, and hide under baggy jumpers every day – don’t! If you’ve lost a bit of motivation with working out, then now is the perfect time to get started again. Here are some great ways to kickstart your fitness regime.
Weigh Yourself
It’s a cruel tactic. But weighing yourself when you haven’t in awhile is the easiest way to scare yourself into starting up your fitness routine again. Once you have your current weight, set an achievable target weight, with a date you’d like to achieve it by. Then you have more reason not to be lazy and go workout!
Download A Running App
Embrace technology! Smartphone apps are a brilliant way to track your progress, especially running apps. Plug in your earphones and the app will tell you when to run and when to take a break. They don’t expect you to be at the peak of fitness to begin with, so you’ll be able to keep up. As you progress, it will ask you to run for a longer time, and after a few weeks of using one, you should be able to run at least a few kilometres straight!
Join A Group Class
Group classes are for a lot of people, a better way of working out than alone in the gym. With an instructor motivating you, and other people participating around you, you are more likely to try and push yourself. CrossFit classes are one great example of a high energy group class you could try out. If it is the same time every week, it will also get you into a good routine.
Find A Gym Buddy
Along the same lines of having other people around to motivate you, why not try and find a gym buddy! There is most likely one of your friends who would also like to get fitter, so why not help each other out by going together. That way you can’t back out so easily, as you’ll be letting someone else down as well as yourself!
Start Working Out At Home
If you aren’t feeling like heading back to the gym just yet, or are a bit strapped for cash, then try starting off at home. It’s also a great way to work out when you don’t have much time. There are plenty of YouTube videos that will give you a routine to follow, and you won’t need any equipment. No need to buy fitness DVD’s!
Follow Fitness Accounts On Instagram
There are plenty of accounts on Instagram that are run by fitness fanatics. Follow these for a bit of inspiration, and motivation to get yourselves as fit as them! They’ll soon have you feeling guilty for not going to the gym this week.
Keeping up your fitness routine is admittedly difficult when we all lead such hectic lives. So why not try out just a few of these tips to get you started again this winter.
I keep reminding myself as I grab for that special holiday treat that I need to keep in check so that I don’t have to do extra work just to get where I am now in January! I need to keep pushing forward!
