Good morning!
Last weekend my sister and I ran the New Year’s Race in downtown Los Angeles.
I’d initially planned on running the half-marathon, but I had an early flight the next day, I hadn’t trained at all, and it was cold! So I switched my registration to the 10K. #Sorrynotsorry.
I disappointed myself at my last race, but I decided that I don’t really care about time so much anymore – I just want to do the best I can. My Garmin said I ran 5.6 miles in 1:17, but it lost signal in That Tunnel and shorted the distance by .8 miles. You know That Tunnel – it’s in pretty much every disaster movie and car commercial ever filmed.
Anyway, this race was tough! It was the first time I’ve run a race at night. It started off cold, but you’d better believed we warmed up quickly. I hadn’t trained much, and not on hills at all. But it was exciting running a race in the neighborhood where I grew up. Now, this is where you might expect a few photos of that – like the Chinatown arch or the sign at Dodger Stadium…but I dropped my phone just before I left the house and shattered the screen, so no. This isn’t the first 10K/iPhone issue I’ve had…but 유씨 saved the day by getting it fixed while I was at the race.
I did order this from Marathon Foto – it’s me and my sister at the finish line. We rock!
How was your New Year?
