Non-Scale Victories Link Up

Last week I texted my pops and told him the only time I miss eating beef and pork is when I walk by the Cuban bakery and see people on sidewalk seats eating their Cuban sandwiches and pasteles de carne and papas rellenas… He texted back saying it was great that I don’t eat meat anymore, but he recommended that I give up the Diet Coke too.

I can’t remember the last time I had a Diet Coke.

This is a huge victory for me, and seems to have happened on its own. Now, I’m not decaffeinated, but a cup of coffee in the morning and a cup of tea at work is pretty innocuous I think. (I hope). But giving up Diet Coke is a major, major change for me, and somehow I did it without even realizing.

I took that photo in Laos and put it on Facebook with the caption “True love in any language.” Such was the depth of my feeling toward Diet Coke!

  1. I can so relate! I was definitely addicted to diet coke. I didn’t drink any other type of caffeine, but loved my diet coke. I decided to quit in December and I’m so proud of myself that I haven’t had one since. It is a hard habit to break, so good for you! When I need flavor I’ve been using crystal light added to my water. Have you found another flavored drink or do you stick mainly to regular water?

  2. Being able to walk away from a love that deep is pretty darn strong, lol – you SHOULD feel great! And, yes, a coffee or tea fix is perfectly fine…pretty much what I will always tell myself 😉

  3. Visiting from the link up 🙂 New follower!

I have a very similar relationship with Coke Zero. I’m slowly coming off, but I have no idea if I’ll ever have the willpower to quit. Everyone has a vice, right?

  4. New follower from the linkup. Great job on the Diet Coke! This is why recognizing NSVs is so great – sometimes you really have no idea when it happened!

  5. That is so great! I used to have a 3-5 can a day love affair with Diet Coke, and I quit cold turkey back in December, so I totally get it! I’m so happy for you that it was easy to quit! The only time I miss it is at McDonald’s…they had the best fountain Diet Coke of anywhere!

  6. My parents are always trying to get me to stop drinking diet pop too. I will one day. Although, I am naturally not drinking it on my own. I often choose water over pop… which is abnormal.

I'd love to hear from you
