Yesterday I ran the Ugly Sweater 5K. Usually I don’t think a 5K is good value for money, but this was on Groupon for $20, so I thought, what the heck.
Let me tell you something, Interwebs. Trying to run after the first week of Insanity is perhaps not a great idea. Especially when you gasp in pain when you walk downstairs.
Still, I didn’t do too terribly bad. I secretly wanted to do a 10-minute mile, but I’m not quite there yet.
This was a fun race, even if it was just around the park a few times. The park was decorated, a lot of runners were in costume, and there was a DJ with electronic Christmas music.
Plus, it was sponsored by Samuel Adams.
Beer is a surprisingly good recovery drink.
How was your weekend?
Never would have thought of beer as a recovery drink! Wishing you a Merry Christmas!
I was surprised too – I thought it was just a gimmick for the race, but it really was refreshing.
Merry Christmas, my friend.
A beer sounds a great recovery drink to me. I really need to organise myself and do some events next year x
YES – signing up for these races is probably the only thing that keeps me motivated to run.
I suppose beer is a decent recovery drink .. it’s almost all water and the barley does turn to a simple sugar which can help to restore depleted glycogen and if that’s not true, well heck you deserve it after a long run 🙂

An ugly sweater 5k, that is such a cute idea!!! I hope you had a great holiday!
sounds like a fun run and a beer after sounds extra perfect!

Glad you got to run. Seems like a good healthy way to celebrate the holidays 🙂
