Why It Can Be So Hard to Lose Weight

If you’ve ever tried to lose weight, you will know that although the mantra of ‘eat less and move more’ is technically correct, it really isn’t that simple.

Losing weight is far more difficult for most people than we have all been lead to believe and many of us struggle to maintain our efforts and reach a healthy weight. There are numerous reasons for this that we will go into below because knowing what could be preventing us from getting healthy is the first step to making changes and finally dropping those excess pounds…

Attitude

If you want to successfully lose weight, you need to have the right attitude. So many of us approach weight loss as something to be hacked; something that we can use shortcuts to achieve. This means that we try out lots of fads, like these ones, that may work for a while. But which are unsustainable in the end. If you want to lose weight, you need to approach it with an attitude of willingness and acceptance that it will be a tough challenge, but one that it is worth conquering for your health and well-being going forward.

Lack of Consistency

If you workout every day this week, but you don’t work out at all next week, chances are you will not lose as much weight as you could, and actually, you may end up slacking off a whole lot. If you want to see results, you need to set up a schedule for exercise and an eating plan for your diet and stick to it the majority of the time. If you do this, it will become a habit and you will not even have to think about what you’re doing anymore, the healthy living stuff will come naturally to you.

Eating Unhealthy Foods

Many of us think that we can go on eating small amounts of junk food and still lose weight, and it’s true that many of us can. However, there are lots of us who cannot have junk food in the home because we will binge on it and for whom one taste is never enough. If you are one of those people, start replacing unhealthy snacks with healthy low-calorie alternatives like carrot sticks and hummus or berries. If it’s hard at first and you’re prone to binging, click here for appetite suppressants which might help you to overcome the urge to eat until it becomes natural. You’ll probably find phasing out these foods slowly will be more successful than giving them up cold turkey.

Lifestyle

Unfortunately, for many of us, our very lifestyle is the major problem holding us back from reaching our weight loss goals. For example, if you’re the kind of person who drives everywhere, who mainly eats out for fun and who spends hours in front of the TV, you simply aren’t going to do as well as someone who walks whenever they can, has a range of active hobbies and who doesn’t watch much TV. Lifestyle can be the hardest thing to change but it is a fundamental aspect of weight loss and the more you can do to add healthy activities into your day the better.

Weight loss is hard, but you can make it easier with a few (mostly) simple changes.

I'd love to hear from you
